California Saga

I’ve been really late to cover the legalization of gay marriage thing. Many days late actually. But that’s okay. So anyway, I just cannot express my joy in knowing that the gay rights movement is doing its thing and getting good outcomes. Before, it was one state. Now it’s two. TWO! Massachusetts and California are such beautiful states. This girl is proud to live in one of them. And here is a good article to fill you in if you’ve been living under a rock:

I just hope that this new decision will not be revoked and they’ll allow it to stay in the law books. This isn't a permanent decision and it would be horrible to see it be erased just like that. I predicted the conservatives would jump all over this, and they did. Everybody is so outraged that the court in California would pass such a ruling. I honestly don’t see why gay marriage is such a “threat” to these people. It’s not like you’re going to be married to someone of the same sex; why not allow others to express themselves? There have been many cases of heterosexual couples abusing the power of marriage that it’s disgusting to not permit homosexual couples to have a lick of that right. A heterosexual marriage of a few hours is outrageous and is completely insulting to lifetime of unhappiness and repression that homosexuals experience. Don’t pull a Britney on us and expect us to listen to you when you denounce gay marriage. Why can’t people just let go of their idealism and let others be happy? This is a great step forward for the battle for gay rights. Let’s keep it that way.

But then there is also the 2008 Presidential Election. John McCain is one who does not support the legalization of gay marriage. As bad as that sounds, at least he’s being upfront about it, so we’ll know who not to vote for as the leader of our freaking country. Oh darn, I forgot I’m not 18 yet. Anyway, here’s what ole Johnny had to say:

He "supports the right of the people of California to recognize marriage as a unique institution sanctioning the union between a man and a woman, just as he did in his home state of Arizona," his campaign said in response.

Tsk tsk. I’ll bet you he’s totally being hit-listed in the gay community.

I have neglected to adress this as well. Thanks for bringing it up Cathleen. What I really just get teed off about are the reasons conservatives give for denying gays the right to marriage. They always give their little spiel about how in the bible it says that marriage is between a man and a woman and how heterosexual marriage is tradition. Well guess what motha fucka? The bible also tried to justify slavery and tradition is bullshit, just because it's old, doesn't mean it's right. People change, the world changes and with those changes, humanity should seek to enlighten themselves, not continue to get caught up in narrow ass mindsets that were developed like a gagillion years ago. And a lot of conservatives express how they think homosexuality is immoral and how it is a choice. Motha fucka, did you choose to be straight? Do you choose to fall in love with the person that you do? That shit is not something that one has a control over but what you can choose to do is allow gays to share their lives with whomever they please and have access to all the same benefits of marriage that you do. Because maybe you bitches forgot, but marriage is a right, not a privelage. It is just ridiculous that our country allows people like Anna Nicole Smith and that old dude, Britney Spears and both her weirdo ass exes, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon (you and I both know that shit ain't gonna last), Wendi Deng (gold diggin bitch) and Rupert Murdoch to get married when it is so apparent that there isn't an ounce of real love there, when there are thousands of homosexual couples out there who have an endless supply of love for each other. So to those conservative assholes seeking to cause the most fucked up upheaval of the fight for gay rights, pull your head outta your tight homophobic ass and open your eyes! Maybe you're the ones who don't deserve to get married.
